Akkusativ — the direct-object case

The Akkusativ marks the direct object or destination of movement — and changes only masculine articles (der→den). The easiest case, learned first.

The Akkusativ marks the direct object — the thing the verb acts on: Ich sehe den Film. It also marks destination after two-way prepositions: Ich gehe in den Park (wohin? → accusative).

The mercy of German: accusative changes only the masculine forms. der → den, ein → einen, mein → meinen; feminine, neuter and plural articles don't move. The pronouns: ich → mich, du → dich, er → ihn (wir, ihr unchanged). First case learners meet — the A1 grammar map schedules it in week four.
